Estimated Prices

Catalogue entries include descriptive information for every lot, as well as price range, which reflects the opinion of our specialists as to the price expected for the lot at auction. These are based upon prices recently paid at auction for comparable works and take into account condition, rarity, quality and provenance (history of ownership).

Estimates are prepared well in advance of the sale and are subject to revision; they do not include the buyer's premium.

Reserves

The reserve is the minimum price the vendor is willing to accept and below which a lot will not be sold. This amount is confidential and will not exceed the low presale estimate. Property offered for sale without a reserve is identified by the square shaped symbol "" next to the estimated price range.

G.S.T. Symbol

Please note the following G.S.T. symbol "". This symbol indicates that the lot has been consigned by a G.S.T. registered entity. This symbol "" displayed next to an estimated price range indicate G.S.T. at 10% is payable on the hammer price and buyer' premium. In all other circumstances G.S.T. will only be paid on the buyer's premium.

Conditions of Sale

If you wish to bid in a sale, we encourage you to read the Conditions of Sale. The Conditions of Sale outline the terms governing the purchase of property sold at auction. Deutscher~Menzies will sell property to be auctioned on a G.S.T. exclusive basis. The diamond shaped symbol "" indicates lots that are subject to payment of G.S.T. by the purchaser in addition to the hammer price and the buyer's premium. The buyer's premium will also be subject to G.S.T. See condition 7 of the Conditions of Sale for details.

Menzies Art Brands Interest in Property Consigned for Sale

Menzies Art Brands generally offers property consigned by other for sale at public auction. Occasionally lots are offered which have in the course of the sale process become the property of Menzies Art Brands. Menzies Art Brands also occasionally offers for sale works owned in whole or part by Menzies Art Brands. In either case the triangular symbol "" will be displayed next to the estimated price range.

In some cases Menzies Art Brands has guaranteed a minimum price to the vendor of the property or made an advance to the vendor which is secured solely by the consigned property. Such lots may be identified by the circular symbol "" next to the estimated price range and are sold subject to a reserve.
